What you get when you purchase a map from KMLers
You will receive a kml or kmz (zipped) file that depicts the Seasonal Ranges of a specific species of animal. What you are paying for is the service provided to
you for compiling the government data in a user-friendly format. The areas are color coded and labeled
as winter, summer, concentration area, etc. Use the map to understand how the
animals are moving, where to find the best habitat that supports the most game, and find out where animals typically don't hang out.
Also figure out where the animals are during specific times of the year.
The kmz file can be opened in Google Earth (or Virtual Earth - currently there are some limitations on file size, etc.).

Colorado Mule Deer
Colorado Mule Deer Concentration Areas & Limited Use Areas Map - $6.99
Using Google Earth's 3D interactive map, Browse areas where the habitat allows for a higher concentration of animals.
Concentration Areas = That part of the overall range where higher quality habitat supports significantly higher densities than surrounding areas. These areas are typically occupied
year round and are not necessarily associated with a specific season. Includes rough break country, riparian areas, small drainages, and large areas of irrigated cropland.
Limited Use Areas = An area within the overall range of mule deer that is only occasionally inhabited and/or contains only a small population of scattered mule deer.
As Defined By the
Colorado Division of Wildlife
Colorado Mule Deer Winter Range Map - $5.99
Using Google Earth's 3D interactive map, Browse areas that mule deer may inhabit during the late rifle seasons. Or use this map to help you find locations for shed hunting.
Winter Range = That part of the overall range where 90 percent of the individuals are located during the average five winters out of ten from the first heavy snowfall to
spring green-up, or during a site specific period of winter as defined for each DAU.

Colorado Division of Wildlife
Colorado Mule Deer Winter Concentration Areas Map - $3.99
Using Google Earth's 3D interactive map, Browse areas that mule deer may be concentrated in during the late rifle seasons. Or use this map to help you find high probability locations for shed hunting.
Winter Concentration Areas = That part of the winter range where densities are at least 200% greater than the surrounding winter range density during the same period used to define winter range in the average five winters out of ten.
As Defined By the
Colorado Division of Wildlife
Colorado Mule Deer Highway Crossings Map - $3.99
Check out which highways the deer are crossing as another tool to figure out movement patterns and locations.
Highway Crossings = Those areas where mule deer movements traditionally cross roads, presenting potential conflicts between mule deer and motorists.
As Defined By the
Colorado Division of Wildlife
Colorado Mule Deer Resident Herd Areas Map - $3.99
Check out which areas hold resident herds.
Resident Population Areas = An area that provides year-round range for a population of mule deer. The resident mule deer use all of the area all year; it cannot be subdivided into seasonal ranges although it may be included within the overall range of the larger population.
As Defined By the
Colorado Division of Wildlife
Colorado Mule Deer Severe Winter Range Map - $3.99
Good for shed hunting after bad winters
Severe Winter Range = That part of the overall range where 90% of the individuals are located when the annual snowpack is at its maximum and/or temperatures are at a minimum in the two worst winters out of ten.

Colorado Elk
Colorado Elk Concentration Areas & Limited Use Areas Map - $6.99
Using Google Earth's 3D interactive map, Browse areas where the habitat allows for a higher concentration of animals.
Summer Concentration Areas = Those areas where elk concentrate from mid-June through mid-August. High quality forage, security, and lack of disturbance are characteristics of
these areas to meet the high energy demands of lactation, calf rearing, antler growth, and general preparation for the rigors of fall and winter.
Limited Use Areas = An area within the overall range which is occasionally inhabited by elk and/or contains a small scattered population of elk.

Check out which areas hold resident herds.
Resident Population Areas = An area used year-round by a population of elk. Individuals could be found in any part of the area at any time of the year; the area cannot be subdivided into seasonal ranges. It is most likely included within the overall range of the larger population.
